WE HAVE CURRENT OPENINGS FOR GUARDIAN HOMES!!!! CALL or TEXT TO APPLY!

What is a Guardian Home?…

We believe that parent breeding dogs deserve a great home and a great life! We limit the number of dogs we have in our own home for this reason. We will not ever keep our dogs in outdoor runs/kennels. We also do not want to be the type of breeder that is constantly cycling through adult dogs, re-homing them when they retire. We believe, when possible, it is best for the dogs to be with their forever family right from the start! To accomplish this, some of our breeding dogs become part of another family’s life and home as part of our Guardian Home program.

This programs used by many breeders who are not for retirement and their dogs leaving the only home they’ve known to live with a new family. Sometimes this does happen, but we try to start our dogs off with their forever families.

To summarize – the breeding dog starts out with their Guardian home and returns to us for breeding and whelping. Females will return when in heat, then again to deliver the puppies. The female stays with us for about a week during her heat cycle to be bred, unless otherwise arranged. Then again she returns to us to whelp (deliver) the puppies a week before they are due, and stays with us until the puppies are weaned (about 7-8 weeks total). For males it’s a little different, we have a few options: 1) If you live with in a reasonable driving distance we will arrange breedings with your Sire. 2.) Ship seamen, we can do this from almost anywhere in the United States. We work with our Guardian Homes using a contract to provide support and guidance all along the way, staying in contact through the year. For females, they typically have 4-6 litters (depending on dam) and then retire (equating to about 2-3 years after they reach breeding age).  At the end of the Guardian Home contract, the dog is spayed/neutered (at our expense) and ownership is transferred to the Guardian Family.

The parent dog gets to be a companion/pet and have the happiness of being part of a forever family and home – and great puppies get raised. What could be better?! The Guardian Family is paid $1500-$3000 for each female dog’s litter during the contract period, or $250 per stud use for a male. It’s a total “win” for everyone, the parent dog, the Guardian Family, and Above the Cloud Doodles!

Please note that we are very selective and only highly qualified families will be approved to foster our breeding dogs.  We will conduct a telephone interview and home visit. Our breeding program depends on the quality of care provided by our guardian families – we expect only the best home life possible for our dogs.
